North Germany

Schon Germany

It was a beautiful, fun and an interesting trip

I haven't stepped in Europe for long time.

This spring I got a chance to visitIt was after 20 years since I left Switzerland

 This trip was something unexpected

All this happened from something unexpected in my life

Head towards Heligoland
I just wanted to put this picture in front because I like the German flag being waved by wind
yes, I was in Germany

Hamburg

I arrived at Hamburg first. Hamburg is one of the biggest harbor city in Europe

The air in Hamburg was frozen and everything was so transparent

It was interesting for me that I could see so many people from different background and mixture of culture.

Germany was a complicated country than I had imagined.

Town hall
I wondered why Hamburg town hall has to be such a beautiful building
It was a beautiful city

Frozen water and almost full moon

Evening walk

It was too cold to drink beer outside but it must be awesome to hang out in the harbor during summer time

Beautiful water, building and life

I liked the display of vegetables in this shop
It's interesting for me that there are so many summer vegetables in the shop
Is it what we call EU power?

Cuxhaven

Cuxhaven locates 2 hrs away from Hamburg

It faces to North sea and strong winds from North kept blowing to the city

The beach is famous for a busy summer holiday place.
In winter, there were few people. Sand was frozen and wind made the beach a frozen desert

I haven't seen the sea frozen like this
It was breathtaking scenery
I was really glad that I could see such an astonishing view with my eyes

I felt the power of the nature
the power to make a beautiful scenery and power to change the land

Germany is a bakery country
I really enjoyed going inside bakeries and see what kinds of breads are available
Even it was a cold weather, hot coffee and tasty breads warmed me up

Heligoland

Heligoland is a small island in the North sea, about 70 km away from Cuxhaven

The island was heavily bombed by British army in WW2 and we could see the deep scars of the war in the island

But the island was strong enough to endure the war and now it is a land for thousands of birds and

provide rare sea ecosystem

Morning walk
The temperature was not so low but everything was frozen because of the north wind

Lange anna and the remaining of the war

Hundreds of seals take in the sun

Sunday market
I didn't expect to meet two Japanese golden cats in such a far away place

 Verden

Verden is located in Lower Saxony which is in North part of Germany

It is famous for horse racing and there are so many horses on the outskirt of the town

I spent most of the time here and I really liked this place

Tuesday morning market
We bought a smoked eel, horse sausages, some vegetables, and a waffle
We had a great brunch!!

Calm afternoon city road

Bakery bakery bakery

This is a village outskirt of Verden city
There were many animals; cows, horses, sheep, goats and chickens
It was a calm, good atmosphere village
I want to go again in every season

It's always good to walk empty railway

Near forest
If I were not sick, I would have walked every morning and every evening!!

Germany was cold, but certainly there were signs of spring
